Following in the footsteps of the Australian Federal Police and their efforts in Australia, the Child Exploitation Online Protection Centre (CEOP), has successfully managed to get the Virtual Global Taskforce commercial shown on United Kingdom television.
This was a real coup for CEOP, as in the United Kingdom it is notoriously difficult to have items televised. The advert was aired regularly throughout the day on 12 February 2008 on various channels including Channel 4 and Channel 5 to coincide with the European Safer Internet Day.
CEOP is the internet safety awareness node for the United Kingdom and works in unison with other awareness nodes representing countries throughout Europe to promote education and awareness campaigns and share resources. On 12 February, each awareness node delivered a message/event in their own country and it was through this initiative that CEOP delivered the Virtual Global Taskforce advert to television for the day.
The Australian Federal Police have successfully established the Virtual Global Taskforce on Australian television, where it has become a regular feature.
